I rarely ask for one, but I always appreciate it when someone shows me a GA permit. It just reassures me that they are a GA resident and that the chance of them being a felon is close to zero. I do the same when I'm buying something. It's just common courtesy in my book.

On the flip side, asking someone to go to an FFL and do a transfer is a PITA. Not saying I wouldn't do it, but just like doing a BoS, it would have to be pretty special circumstances. I'm not sure what am FFL transfer would buy you over a permit either.
