Can someone tell me what's bad about the piston system im not familiar with this system..

That's a VERY broad question. You're best bet is to search that subject on youtube. Check out nutnfancy;s vids.......He covers that subject in a couple different vids

I didn't read all of this thread, but you need to consider what type of scope you want on the AR. A good one will eat $300+ of your budget.

Thanks guys. Y'all resurrected my thread. I should have been polite enough to tell you what I purchased...

I got a DPMS Sweet 16 with the floated bull barrel. It is a paper puncher and my sons and I enjoy it very much. The rest went to ammo and a Nikon Buckmaster 3x9x40.
