Most sites I've seen up-charge $50 for CL barrels - You'll see a non-CL for $100 - $120 and then the CL barrels starts at $150 - 160. If it gives 50% longer life with acceptable accuracy then it's a toss up on that front. There are other concerns as some have mentioned - corrosion resistance and accuracy - although if you don't shoot skunk Russian surplus crap and are not involved in 400 yard, bench-rest shooting matches these shouldn't be a problem.

I too was thinking of picking up a Ruger 556. Can someone tell me what's bad about the piston system im not familiar with this system. I just really like Ruger products and their AR looks pretty good.
