Up until about 2-3 weeks ago I had bucks on all of my cameras, now I just have does and fawns. Where did they all go?
I know they start to wander more about now, but no sign at all (except for the occasional buck turd)?
I usually hunt over a pile of corn (Just kidding Geaux!), i hunt mostly in thick Piedmont, but this year I have the opportunity to hunt over a small 1/2 acre clearing in the forest. I'm thinking of doing a food plot, my questions are;
1. Is it too early to make one? and
2. If it isn't too early...
I was out in the field today. I figured the deer would be moving after last night's cold front and sure enough I saw a whole heap of deer even before 8.15am.
Anyhoo, around 8.30am a lone 8 pointer breaks the tree line and moves across the field in front of me keeping about 90 yds away. I have...
Well not really, but I've found a spot on a field that overlooks a trail between 2 patches of forest.
I don't have the resources or time to buy and set up a tripod this year, but I was thinking I could just back my truck into the raised corner of the field and set up a blind in the truck bed...
I always give my buddy crap about his "cheater bow", but this year more than any other I've seen and let a bunch of animals walk that if they were 10 yards closer I'd have taken a shot at with my compound bow.
I'm comfortable with a 30-35 yardish bow shot but I know crossbows will reach out...
Hi, I just bought a Savage Scout in 308. I'm looking for a recommendation on scopes or red dots. Do you guys have any?
Ideally a 4x red dot, but finding ones with appropriate eye relief is nigh on impossible.
Whaddy'all think?
I got wifely permission to go hunt last Saturday afternoon (pleading the opening day helped).
I go to the intersection of 2 trails that I've had the same bachelor group on camera all year (a prong, a 10 point and a mature 9 point). I set up sitting with my back to a tree about 20 yards off the...
My 11 year old baby has been coming with me the last 3 years. I've been teaching her to shoot and I think it's time to let her have a crack at a deer... I've read the DNS regs but I'm struggling to interpret them. Does she need a license or just a deer harvest record and if she needs a license...

I've recently had the opportunity to hunt some land that has not been legally hunted in 5 years. A couple of weeks ago my friend and I decided to scout it pretty thoroughly. The land is about 200 acres of mixed woodland bounded on one side by a road and the other side a creek and a sewer line...
I've got the opportunity to hunt this property in the morning. I haven't had chance to scout it so this time I'll be hitting it blind (This time, I'll scout it in the afternoon).
Do you guys have any opinions on stand sites in the morning? According to Google Maps sites A B C and D show heavy...
I've got the chance to go bow hunting a couple of times this week... of course the wind is supposed to be blowing steadily out east all week (in Taliaferro) so I have zero chance of getting to my stands from downwind and to add insult to injury they'll be facing the wrong way when I get...
I'm going to try and make a mock scrape in front of one of my stands this weekend, does anyone have any suggestions or tips?
All help greatly appreciated.
Due to the location of my lease and the position of the game trails, it is very difficult to approach my stands from upwind (last years crazy weather was a nightmare!).
I've had success in the past couple of years, but I can't help thinking every time I go that almost every deer coming onto my...
I set out bright and early last Saturday am to try and get the 2 coyotes I've seen around my stand. About 1/2 way into my 1.5 hour drive to my lease I realized I'd left my call and boots at home.... grr!
The moral is, get everything ready in the evening BEFORE having a couple of beers.
Hey Hivemind, my deer season wasn't a good one, I'm sure weather was a huge part of that but my area has also become the range of at least 2 coyotes (I've seen them).
Since I'm tired of stepping in coyote poo on the way to my stand they must go. I understand that February is a good time to hunt...
