AR build for Hiking / Camping

Nothing will be left in the car. Looking for something I can carry in a backpack with me while hiking. I should of been more specific on that part.
I'd go with an AR-7.....Henry makes one in 22LR....a backpackable breakdown 22 rifle where everything fits in the stock. I have one....

And if you encounter a scary looking old guy carryin his sleeping bag in a trash compactor bag please do not shoot him. He is harmless.

I have a 7” 300aac with a side folding stock that fits in a daypack.

300 is going to give you much better ballistics out of a barrel that short than 5.56. Load it with some 110gr solid copper ballistic tip ammo and it’s a very effective, very compact package.

PSA made some pretty good stuff but you have to go with the way they build it or it’s pointless. If you know what you want length and size wise better off to build it. 5.56 nothing lower than a 10.3 barrel, 300 Blackout nothing under 7 but if you go 9mm pcc you can go shorter and even could get a law folder for the stock/brace to make it shorter.

This is my 9mm pcc backpack gun I built it. It have 5.5 barrel. Places to check is for is Joeboboutfitters.com, righttobear.com, brownells.com, and Midwayusa.com. That’s the places I use the most to built. Find sales and specials building is not going to happen overnight take you time and know what you want. If you want to look at a 22LR take a look at 10/22 Charger takedown pistol they pack/store away nicely.
