From what I can tell from the pics,other than the assumption of the cylinder rotation being opposite of a Smith, it appears to be a
1916 vintage Police Positive in 38 Short or 38 S&W, I think they call it. I have basically the same, but slightly scaled down Colt in 22lr. The grips look much nicer on yours,though

One that followed me home today. Seemed like it needed a new home. Smith Wesson 586 No dash 4" Nickle. I needed another 4" 357 like a hole in the head. I haven't gotten attached to it yet, But if I can find some new shoes for it then it will probably stay. Of course if someone had a nice 25-5 4" Nickle 45 Colt? hmmmm!
