It seems like everybody wants to come up with some strange alternate explanation, rather than reading the article where the actual scientist explains what is happening. At the very bottom of the article, the guy explains that this image was "averaged" from a composite of two days' images-which leaves a dark spot where the planet had been. Astronomy is like that. Most pictures we see of things like this are combined from multiple images, usually in spectra we can't see without enhancement anyhow. This guy ain't trying to cover up a conspiracy, he is simply trying to explain that what we are seeing isn't a normal full-motion video, or even a series of normal pictures-as most people would assume.
This really ain't the Klingons, folks.
