Do you ever practice shooting your carry pistol WITHOUT ear protection?

Back when I was a kid (Times were different then) I use to go shooting with my dad. We NEVER had ear protection... It was fine until my uncle decided to bring his 50BMG...

Then there was that time we didnt have hearing protection at a NASCAR race...

And they wonder why I have no hearing.

Them little hairs in your ear die!!!! and they dont grow back....Years of working in a central plant with high pitch sounds no one ever thought that at older age it would do that much damage to your hearing. So...... from here on out, I have to use it or lose what I have left.

That really does suck. I just turned 40, I have arthritis in almost every joint, blind in one eye, about to have surgery on my shoulder, now I find out that I'm gonna be deaf too.

F it. Never thought I'd make it this far.
Its better to burn out, than fade away.

I shot my G29 without any hearing protection once on accident. I haven't done that again. Ouch!

I've shot literally thousands of rounds of 12 ga and .22LR without any kind of hearing protection. I don't know anyone who uses hearing protection while dove or squirrel hunting(I'm sure some people do, I just don't know them). I've never used any while deer hunting either and it's never bothered me. I had semi-annual hearing checks the whole time I was in the military and my hearing is fine. Even four years of working in close proximity to jet engines, often without earpro, didn't really mess with my hearing. If i'm just out shooting I wear at least ear plugs most of the time. I've found that 230gr hp's out of a four inch barrel don't really bother me without earpro, but fmj's make my ears ring a bit. I wouldn't say my hearing is perfect, but it isn't very bad according to my hearing test results.

I'm not shootin my 10mm without hearing protection. If someone wants to break in and test this, I'll let ya all know ....

I know its gonna be bright and loud in my house; just like the 12ga, AR or AK will be, but, I'm thinking that my hearing will be the last thing I am concerned with preserving if such a situation were to occur......
