Im trying to wrap my brain around this. I have an Accord with the starter grind. The following tsb addresses it…kind of. Seems pretty hokey to me. Still the same ring gear. I understand theres common park positions for the crank after shutdown but the bigger issue is wear. It says to replace the starter due to a worn bendix drive but they dont address the wear or revise the starter case for proper gap. So your basically indexing the ring gear and slapping a new starter on and crossing your fingers. My car has 135k on it. Ive read online of it happening much sooner. Anyone have any insight with this? I used to make fun of Gm for shimming their starters. I guess this is payback…
