I made fire with a 9volt battery and a piece of steel wool.

I also made fire with a cotton ball smeared with petroleum jelly, using a spark to ignite it.

I made smoke but no fire with a magnifying glass.

I saw a lot of possibilities on Youtube and am trying some out for future reference. Haven't yet tried the bow drill, empty lighter or what one guy did with using a water baloon like a magnifying glass but planning to try them all.

Any other emergency fire starting techniques anyone want to share?

Got half a dozen lighters in each pack, but as soon as it cools down some I'm going to learn how to use a bow drill any way. Too dang hot to be out there starting fires right now.

I learned on a bow drill years ago. It does take some work. I usually carry three means (lighter, matches, and fire steel) to make fire in my BOB and in my outdoor survival kit. Four if you count shoe laces (think fire bow drill) survival kit.

I JUST MADE FIRE TOOOOOOOO,

Just as I was lighting a cigarette.......lol! Carry on!!!

Just to be sure, I was not making light of your thread just in a joking mood.
