In The Market For A New Truck...

Love GM, but the 5.3 won't win any speed contests. GM, get some more power out of that motor!!!! The 6.2 is available on lower trims for 2020 models, good luck finding any. I tried like mad last month. The 6.2 doesn't exist in lower trim on any car lot I could find. They all had 5.3 or that dumb 4 cylinder turbo. So, after extensive google search in truck forums, the Rumor has it they won't be offering until mid 2020. WTF!!

Ram - i've rented some. Nice trucks, but resale isn't great and still scared of reliability.

Nissan - joke of a truck

Toyota Tundra - awesome trucks. I'd own one right now, if not for THREE reasons.
1. MPG is horrid
2. Hasn't really been resigned since 2007 --- REALLY?
3. Fact that even with the mid package SR5, they still come with STEEL wheels. What the heck Toyota, nobody has this!!!

F150 - been looking for awhile, but most sold are these subdivision pansy trucks and won't have a 6.5 bed w/the crew cab. And dealers for some reason don't like to order MAX TOW packages, instead they like the order useless bling 20" wheels. Trucks aren't what they were 10-20 years ago. I need a truck to WORK, not look cool in. Yeah, yeah, 3/4 or 1 ton. Yup, already own a Ram Dually cummins. But ready for something NEW and FAST - like the ecoBEAST.

What are the roads/trails you are riding? Are you doing this in the 19 Silverado?

Yeah, I had my 2019 and my wife was in her 2018...

That was up near Clayton, at Charlie's Creek, plus a side road which turned out to be a Jeep trail that I sorta wish we hadn't gone down... both trucks took a little damage on that one... not too much, but enough that I won't be going down that side trail again... haha

Here is the section that was the issue. The trucks made it fine through just about everything, but this one rut was stupid deep and the side was straight vertical, so when you dropped into it, the bodywork would slam and then drag against the side... If we had offset wheels pushed out a few inches, we would have been fine. But with the stock wheels, the body panels would contact the wall before the tires did.

I was able to get my 2019 out of there by riding over the top of it, which was sketchy AF. Had to lock the rear diff as I had one front and one rear wheel in the air, and had I slipped, would have fallen down about 3 feet into that rut and cost me thousands to repair bodywork or doors...

I couldn't get her truck up over it, her tires weren't digging in as well as mine did, so we had one of the Jeep guys use his winch to pull her front end away from that rut wall, so that I could drive it through without grinding her paint against the gritty wall...

We did completely smashed her side steps on the passenger side though, and that has to be replaced...

20" wheels aren't bad, so long as you have decent tires on them.

This was the problem we had. People want to drive cadilacs with a bed on them not something to work out of. Chevy's problem is there strike. They are very short on trucks at the moment. When we went looking the dealer said they were short about 400 trucks on their lot

Hendrick Chevrolet in Buford has a ton of them. Great people to work with, bought my last 2 trucks from them...

Yup...Exactly!!! Sorry ass pansy's (oops, hopefully y'all aren't one of them).
98% will never carry more than some pine straw and a few 2x4's -- nor touch any type of real dirt road.

So heck with GM then. Not dealing with a shortage and a strike. You lost my business now. And I drive a Tahoe too.

I need a truck to have 4wd capability (what's up with GM not having a low range unless you get the z71 package or similar - WTF)....a 6.5 foot bed (minimum), the 5.5 won't cut it. Yeah, I know, get a 3/4 ton or 1 ton because they all have low range and the 6.5 or 8 foot bed.
Here's the issue. I don't want another diesel. And their gas motors don't have the gust that the 3.5 EB has, despite them being almost double the size.

----- OH, and FORD DEALERS ---- idiots. I need the BLIS (Blind spot monitoring). I can't always see when towing a trailer and that should be a MANDATORY safety item like airbags and such. But it's not on the lower trim models. SOOOOO....most dealers DON'T option this (it's only $590), they would rather option stupid wheels, running boards, or chrome. SH*T i don't care about in the least. F U FORD DEALERS.

More on Ford: Two different dealers in ATL, found the truck(s) I want. They had their sale price listed. Was making arrangements to get the OUT THE DOOR PRICE. BOTH, yes BOTH dealers added on worthless options on top of the sale price. IIR, wheel locks, tint, undercoating/paint protector BS. NO - I don't want any of that for $3,000 more...!!!!

One day I'll find an HONEST Ford Dealer. Kinda scares me if they lie cheat n steal selling you the truck, what happens when you take it in for warranty or maintenance????

------and again, why I drive a Tahoe with 211,600 miles and RAM with 227,000 miles.

Only issue for me (personal thing)...is the less powerful 5.3 (yeah, I have one in my tahoe) AND have to get the off road option for low range 4wd. Many times I need low range going up a steep hill at the club or otherwise while towing a heavy trailer. That saves the transmission.

To get a 6.2 and low range on a low/mid level truck won't exist until mid 2020. Which no doubt will fetch a premium because a ton of guys have been waiting on them (per the forums).

I went back and forth with ford for almost 2 weeks. I kept telling him that I am not going to pay MSRP for trucks especially since I'm buying 3 at the same time. He finally got to a number I liked and I told him I would be in the next day to sign the papers. At 8:30 P.M. he drops the bomb on me, the price was only good with Ford financing. I was pissed. I asked what it was without Ford financing, he tells me +3000 per truck. When I walked in one of the first things said was I don't need financing, company credit at a dealer is bull ****. The next morning in 3 hours time I had 3 trucks from the chevy dealer next door.

Yeah, I usually go for the Z71 package, and this last one went with the Z71 LT Trail Boss, which adds to the Z71 package... factory lift, better tires and upgraded shocks... I find it has decent grunt, even if on paper it is below the competition...

I will say that the 2019 is almost 1/4 ton lighter than my 2018 is, and going from the 6 speed to my 8 speed, or the optional 10 speed transmission, makes a significant difference.

I would have preferred a 6.2L Trail Boss, but didn't feel like waiting till summer time. Honestly, it's a fun truck to drive and as the videos show, pretty solid off road in all but the deepest stuff where the Jeeps really shine...
