Lethal air gun?

I took my 25 cal PCP air gun to a friends house and we were punching through OSB at 7-8 yards. Getting around 800fps according to his chrono. That's out of a sub-$400 rifle.
I doubt you would get the same performance out of an air pistol though, they need that barrel length to get up to speed. Still, as a less-than-lethal deterrent it might still work. Pain compliance is a thing after all and would probably have more of an effect on a meth-head than pepper spray.
Also, the black powder idea isn't a bad one either, and you can get some decent kits for under $1K.

Federally I think this isn’t a “firearm” if it’s either old enough or a replica of an older gun(I don’t remember the year) But in Georgia it’s still a firearm and another felony charge for a felon to possess.
There are big bore airguns capable of killing elk. SD should be A-OK.
With any luck the tweakers may accidentally burn the house down. Problem solved!
