Zen_Life I think you should take the starting info given and make a few calls, take the doubters in stride, and go try your dream. You obviously know you're a late starter but you should at least give it a shot before it's REALLY too late and you'll always wonder what if.
The only things that keep me up at night are the things I didn't give a shot when i has the shot. (I'm in my low 30s).

My cousin got into bill riding for a bit….until he broke his arm…bucked so hard it pulled the bones apart!

You got to have a feel for an animal and know how to read them. By 26 my body was already starting to quit me. Rode saddle broncs for about 7 years. I only rope now and try not to get bucked off if at all possible. If you do pursue this sport you need to be in very good shape. If not meth and bourbon will need to be applied.
