If it has a chip the vehicle will have to be present at the place that makes the duplicate key

Most ace hardwares do it now and good locksmiths that have an actual storefront , (most locksmiths now just work out of a van ) can do it
Usually runs about $100 although that varies
A duplicate key for The wife’s 2000 beetle was $550 and no locksmith can do the programming although they can cut the key , if you provide the blank key
So we took the computer out and sent it to a place in Texas that modified the software and removed the requirement for a chip for $60
So now we didn’t have to pay $500 for the programming of the new key
The cars only worth $2000
I ain’t paying $550 for a key
