Put it in the basement if you can. If the door comes off (external hinge) - makes it much easier to move. Anchor with bolts into the foundation. Run a Golden Rod inside and a dehumidifier outside. That way no floor issues and just keep the M16 under the bed for safety.

A dehumidifier is a necessity in any firearms storage app. A non climate controlled area basement maybe, garage, not mine. The back of a closet or similar location is my choice.

Dont put one next to a outside wall. We built one in to the wall at my dad,s and the constant change in tem from the outside and the tem from the inside made it useless.

if you have a basement with smaller storm cellar type room with a concrete walls times 4 and ceiling such as exterior concrete pored porch overhead that would be ideal. no worries of fire

I have a 500 lb safe and about 200-250 pounds in it on my second floor and I have never had a problem.
