Pellet grill/smokers

Fell down the rabbit hole of Google looking at these today. Main use would be smoking not grilling. Any thoughts, recommendations, warnings?

All advice must be heavily in my favor. :p
I have a couple of friends that have the pellet smokers and they love them.

The only problem I have with them is their need for A/C power.

i've had a Traeger for over 10 years. We cook on 4-5 days a week. Just made a batch of peppered beef jerky yesterday. it's so easy even a cave women can cook with it.

I would like to stay under $500.

Traeger is a good brand, good following, people seem to like them. My wife's cousin is a professional competitor on the KCBS and owns a restaurant in downtown Phoenix and he uses GMG. Has a Daniel Boone model. Thats another one I'd look into.

I personally have a cheap Pit Boss smoker from walmart as I wasn't sure I wanted to get into it. Now I'm waiting for a new deck and I'm going to get a bigger and better one. Either RecTec or Yoder. A lot of people in the know say the Traegers are decent but the build quality aren't as good as some of the other brands. They are probably the most popular though.
