I've shot to 1000 from a bench. I've also shot to 1000 contorted between wooden spools, positioned on stacks of tires, laying on 4 pvc pipes on concrete with nothing touching the ground, and whatever else Guess which one was easier.
REDX - If you don't mind my asking, what type of equipment are you using? I do not shoot long range and I almost always shoot with iron sights on non-custom rifles. 800 yards and in is where I would normally shoot with 200 - 300 being normal. I do check loads and chrono at 100 yards but rarely shoot beyond 300. I hnow folks local that build rifles on custom actions, use expensive glass, etc., but I haven't gotten into that game yet.

Thanks for the information. I own a Sendero with a Leupold VXII chambered in .270 WIN and that was my only scoped rifle for 22 years. I have recently put a SPS Varmint .308 WIN into an HS Precision M24 stock with the HS Precision bottom metal 10 round mag kit. This started when I bought a FFP Viper 6 X 24 scope. I have a Badger Ord rail mount and I used a SPUHR ISMS mount with 20.6 MOA base elevation built in. I did this thinking I'd like to shoot at 1,000 yards someday. I have no idea from practical experience what I'm doing, just reading online. It'd be good to get some input from experienced shooters for shooting at distance.
You ever get all the mud cleaned off the Tacoma?Man, can Joe get us back on the Blackly shooting complex? I heard they shut it down. Peter Renwick and I shot my 300wm at 1760 last time I was there last year shooting a Joe match.
