Coil packs.....my son went thru so many on his F150 that he kept a couple in the truck along with dedicated tools to replace them. One Christmas I gave him 3 coil packs as a gift. As a working man he appreciated it.

start with plugs
usually when a coil pack is going out you'll get a missfire code for that cylinder

I'm no mechanic by a long shot. But I used to work for the city of Warner Robins at the public works garage. They we're constantly changing the coil packs on their F150s. Granted they were early 2000s models. But the coil pack issue seems to be fairly common.

Ford has had this problem since they went from waste spark to CoP, or since 1997. Between bad coils, a bad coil driver, poor plug thread engagement, 3 piece plugs...you couldn’t get me to trust one. Some models are more prone but there is something amiss in their R&D when it comes to ignition issues and it can keep you chasing your tail. Any particular rpm it is happening at, load conditions, etc.?
