To my surprise the scope was zeroed at 25yards and I had a fun little visit at the range, trying to ignore the onlookers was entertainment. I noticed the action wasn't as smooth as my "Turn Signal" AK folder in Iraq, but that thing was dripping lithium grease...Brought it home, filled the sinks with hot water + Dr. Bronner's soap and gave it a bubblebath. After getting all the petroleum oils out of the weapon & dried, I then cleaned with FrogLube solvent and blown dry. Next, I went through my whole heat process of FrogLube CLP application to all internals. Turned into a 3 hour total cleaning, due to heating/curing times. It's a detailed process but I have to use FrogLube, wife & daughters are sensitive to petroleum based solvents. I thought Hoppes #9 was an aftershave when I was a kid, who knew it's bad for asthma?I watched some of Soviet474u's color fill videos and went for it, very pleased with the results.I've been hunting some ammo & this was a good week to buy 762NATO on ODT. Still hunting some accurate match grade ammo and a long range to really test out it's capabilities. I'm still not totally confident that I wouldn't prefer an M14, maybe I'll give it some time.
