I'm not quite sure the exact meaning in the question, but I will put in my two cents on what I believe you mean.

It would depend on the mission and the mission environment. If my team was in an environment where AK-47s were prevalent and we do not want to be detected, or have supply/support issues, we would go with the AK.

Otherwise, we would choose a more modern battle rifle, hopefully with at least one DM firing 7.62 NATO.

That said, there are still plenty of casualties in the world caused by being downrange of an AK-47 every day. There are cheap to produce, proliferent in parts of the world, and easy to operate.

Of course what you don't see is we were shooting at two litter coke bottles. The AR never missed, the AK never hit one.
