Talking to Police after a Self Defense Incident

We go over this repeatedly. Read "The Law On Self Defense", and probably "In the Gravest Extreme". They'll pretty well cover it. Both books make great Christmas presents for anyone keeping a gun for self defense, btw.

But to summarize: I was in fear for my life. There is evidence there and over there. Those folks are witnesses. I'm not going to answer any questions without my lawyer present.

Then SHUT UP. Take the ride downtown if it comes to it.

Solid advise right there

I did a search and found nothing on this so my question is as follows. This can be your advice as a CCW, if you are a lawyer (would love an opinion from one on the subject), really anything. Just looking for opinions/advice.

Anyway, something happens. You have to use your weapon for what is a cut and dry self defense case. Police come, do what they have to do, and of course question you at the scene or take you in to establish what happened. To you, it's obvious that you had no choice. Do you talk to the police without a lawyer there? I mean, even if its just completely cut and dry. Just to get it over with. Or do you wait for your lawyer and then explain what happened? Would it look at all incriminating if you weren't willing to talk right then and there in such a cut and dry case?

I know that if there is any question you would of course wait for your lawyer, but in a situation like above, what would the good people of ODT do? Like I said, I would love anyones input, but if a lawyer can chime in as well that would be amazing.
I was in fear... And I just wanted him/her to stop...

Repeat the phrase, "I was in fear for my life" until you talk to your lawyer.
Tell them you want to exercise your right to remain silent.
And be convincing when you say it, nothing else should be said at that point, a few tears of fright maybe, but that's it.

Ok, well that is a pretty unambiguous response. Thank you all for that. My second question, and it's possibly a stupid one, but whatever.

Do yall have like, lawyers on retainer, family friends that are lawyers, the number of a lawyer that you can call if something happens? Any of those, or how do yall deal with that?

I have @heavyd in my phone contacts. I pray I never need it.
