Would be cool to have those skills, but ****.....

I worked at a place which did repairs to aircraft skin and structures. They did the Japanese George in the naval museum and parts of the P-38 which was fished out of a glacier....

The guy who ran that joint was an artist. He was just as talented as DaVinci, but he worked in metals. This SOB could cut strips of aluminum on a shear (about 1/4” wide,) and he would dip them in flux and weld that **** with a blow torch....

That was something to see.... And then he would start shaping stuff on an English wheel.

Some folks just have talent. I’d sit around and watch him and think “holy ****....How does someone ever get that kind of talent?”

Metal work is an under appreciated art.
