When was the last time you vacationed out of the country?

Typing this from Romania now... Been here for 3 weeks... Work... Will probably be here for 30-40% of 2015.
For work over the last few years, Germany, Austria, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Philippines (too many times to count), Singapore, Malaysia, China.

Wife and I have made a few vacationing trips to Mexico (Yucatan) and to Ireland. Lived in the Bahamas for 13 years as a kid...

Last trip was 2 years ago this month. We did a river cruise from Budapest back toward Germany on the Danube. It was truly an awesome trip but even if my wife weren't disabled with MS now I don't think we'd travel internationally with the current world situation.

This is actually my first visit to Romania... Loving it so far....

There are gypsies wanting your money either as a donation or are willing to perform certain services for a fee
Stray dogs walking everywhere...
Have been to one Casino.... Do not think it is a "shady" one... Next to Radisson Blu...
Temperatures are great, especially from I hear about Atlanta right now....
But... been here for 3 weeks and do not think I have seen blue sky or stars yet...

I have not seen much mention of money in this discussion. A big part of why people live in rural areas is because they can afford to live there. They may not make enough money to travel Internationally. You should consider yourself lucky if your finances afford you the opportunity and quit judging people.

Last week I was in Chile.

I love Chile. I spent a few weeks in Santiago and 4 mos in Angol a few years ago. We hiked, ski'd, rafted etc... Awesome trip and great people in the small towns.

Last summer was Argentina. Year before was Costa Rica. This year- no dinero so it was fishing on the Ga coast.

Well, Puerto Rico back in 99' and does New York City count? I visited last October to see family. NYC is like visiting a place like China or Russia. Modern but only the cops and badguys had guns.
