Burdy and I decide that for the time being all firearms discussions will be condensed into one forum, and as needed we will add others. Just don't want 3 forums with only a few threads each.

Sounds like a plan to me! There are many, many boards out there with multiple subcategories and hardly any posts in any of them.
I think that such a situation would hurt the site and discourage return visitors.

The more specialised and fractured the board, the less traffic you'll get. People will log on, look to see if there are any new threads and when there are none, they won't even click on the board. For instance there is a Survival board and a Preparedness board. They essentially are the same thing, and are close enough that they should be listed together. Survival and preparedness for instance.
