Beretta field models have auto safety.
Beretta clay target models do not have auto safety.
The auto safety on the field models can be changed to manual safety by most gunsmiths or if you are handy there are you tube videos with step by step instructions.

That’s a game changer then because I hate those things.
Another thing to remember with the 28 gauge guns from these 2 manufacturers is that Browning doesn’t make a true 28 gauge! I love my Browning’s but the petite Beretta frame is hard to beat!
I'm cheap so l didn't care for the price tag but..
They don't feel balanced right to me. It also hit my shoulder wrong. They're good looking though. I shoot with a guy that loved his. And he's much better than me
I was about to say, my SPIII certainly doesn't have auto safety lol. It's a 30" with forcing cones lengthened and magna ported, and it still doesn't shoot half as well as my Guerini.
SP 1 has the auto safety. SP 2 does not.
Both models (factory stock) are excellent for your stated purpose. However the best results are achieved when the gun stock is professionally "fitted" to the shooter.
I am getting to list a Citori 725 field, O/Us just aren't my thing.
