IMG_0546.jpeg

the tarped run is built using 4 cattle panel with cage wire fixed to it using twists of electric fence wire. The coop was built from plans but has a tin roof since shinglea get hot ad heavy. The tin was upcycles from the scrapyard. We also had a 4th chick hatch last night

the nesting box hinges out to clean the coop. The boxes just have a flap door on the back

Awesome! I like the hinged swing out nesting box idea! I still haven’t installed mine yet, may have to consider that. I don’t want them jutting out on the outside so that is an awesome design! Also congrats on the chick. We also incubate. Have hatched 6 silkies and 2 Brahmas successfully. Pretty fun waiting 18-21 days on the babies to emerge.

Worked on some ventilation today and my automatic bird door arrived! Finally no more going out to let them out every morning and shutting them in every night!

Also I have one hen laying. It’s been a long wait. Got 10 babies at the end of April. Hatched some along the way after that. I’ve received one tiny egg each day for the past 3 days. They will increase in size and I will get much more hopefully. It’s been a lot of work, but we have enjoyed it!

They really do taste better fresh!
