762 NATO is just as good as gold. I would sell if I had to, but if you plan on coming back to it I would keep it if able. It's not getting any cheaper. X39 and .223 go up and down like a roller coaster, but 308 surplus just keeps ticking up and up.

Just got back from the range and thought about this thread. I just cleaned my AK. 10 minutes tops, completely cleaned and oiled. I forgot about that little benefit.
I have not taken Vepr to 600 yards, but at 300 I had no problem hitting a gong. Need to adjust your aim, but that's what hold-over chevrons in POSP sight are for.He couldn't do it with 7.62x39 though. Too bad shemp doesn't like little holes.
