I had a GWL when I lived in GA I had recently moved and my GWL didn't match my DL so they said they had to do a NICS. I just told them to forget it and went to another FFL.

Mine don't match. I have a PO box on my license and physical address on my GWL.
I've bought many firearms without a glitch, but I don't frequent Wal-Mart.

I’ve bought from Walmart in the past. I don’t think Walmart is the problem...it usually the rocket scientist behind the counter. Some times you get a good one and sometimes you get someone who isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. Look for the older retiree who works at Walmart part time to supplement retirement - they will get you squared away.

After a waiting period, if your NICS isn't denied, don't they have to let you have the firearm ?

No, the seller never "has" to sell you a gun.
