What would be your loadout if you had that job? Reason I asked is because one guy had an basic AR with no optic but was engaging at significant range. I'm thinking a SPR would be ideal defending a ship like that.

DPMS AR15 with iron sights and a Glock 17 is what the company in that video uses. Optics would be nice, but fall under ITAR and make more paperwork.

Quite possibly because on a pitching ship targeting a small pitching launch it's not that practical. In the video they had nice calm seas, but always that way. I'd think it was good discipline to keep up on basic, iron sight, marksmanship skills.

There are other, lesser, contributing factors to iron sight use, but ITAR is the biggest.

Quite possibly because on a pitching ship targeting a small pitching launch it's not that practical.

That is exactly when I would want a nice RDS with a good FOV. An RDS makes maritime and aerial interdiction much easier.
