It is all about perception ...
It is easier to blame an inanimate object than human behavior!
i.e. "Drugs Kill!!!" ... Wrong! It's the people taking (illegal) drugs that kill themselves as well as create drug gangs that kill each other, including innocent bystanders! .. So, even casual "Drug Users" are actually accessories to murder ... ! Since they "promote" murders, rather than fill our prisons with drug users, execute them! Extreme? YES!
Would it solve the problem NO!
Notice that we don't use terms like "Automobiles Kill", even though almost 50,000 are killed by / in them each year (not to mention the hundreds of thousands seriously injured) ... In total, more than were killed in the multi-year Viet Nam Conflict. We don't talk about "Elimination of Automobiles" or restriction on the number and kind you can own, OR on gas tank sizes or gasoline consumed by them ..
Instead, we talk about getting bad drivers off the streets, education and elimination of the causes of accidents involving automobiles!!!!.
