If I told my wife "all it does is sit on your finger" she would correctly argue that "all your guns, except one, sit in the safe all the time." You can't really argue with that logic. We've been together for 36 happy years. If we have the money and she wants something, she gets it. Vice/versa. I'm kinda digging that arrangement.

Not been married as long as you but we have the same concept. Most of the time l have to force my wife to buy things she wants. It's even hard to get her to buy things that she needs.

Woman's perspective... I personally love my engagement ring and wedding band. I don't think I'd want my initial rings replaced for sentimental reasons. I would, however, like to add an anniversary band later on.

For our 25th we had the original stone reset into a nicer setting and I had a sapphire set into the old setting. It was waaaaaay less expensive than buying a bigger stone and she got the sentimental value of keeping the old stone and the old ring. It was well worth it.
*You could just Netflix the movie Blood Diamond and then make a comment of "Wow, I had no idea how many people are impacted by the diamond industry!"
