As the title says, I am debating between the Rugged 7.62 muzzle brake and Flash Hider for a bolt action 308 that will be used mostly suppressed for hunting. So far on my other guns that are being setup for the Rugged Surge I have chosen Flash Hiders.

If I do shoot the gun un suppressed I will of course have ear protection on, but I can’t decide.

Gun will be a Ruger American Predator 308.

Thanks for your input.

I can't remember if I've seen this in print somewhere but I generally use muzzle brakes on rifles with shorter barrels to act as a sacrificial blast baffle. I'd go flash hider

Agreed. Shorter barrel - Muzzle break. Helps with recoil when you don't have your can, and works as an extra baffle like stated above. Id go flash hider for a longer barrel.
