Such a thing as a decent deer rifle for $300

You can get an H&R with a good scope for $300 or less. Every H&R rifle I have ever owned was was pretty accurate.

Get a Savage 10 or 110 series (11/111 same thing) even if it's a used one. A lotta guys swear by the axis but I'm not at all a fan of the Axis.

You just missed a great deal last week on Slickguns.
They had a model 10 trophy hunter package gun in .308 with a Nikon mounted and bore sighted for $299
Yeah it was a steal and they sold out quick, but finding a model 10/110 for $300 even if it's used shouldn't be a problem.
Heck my brother bought a used here on ODT with a brake for $300 and it stacks bullet holes in bullet holes with 130GR Federal Power Shock (cheap blue box) you see them here priced right pretty regularly

I'd definitely pick a more modern "Deer" rifle over an old mil sup just because of accuracy, weight etc. A more modern deer rifle was designed to hun,t and they are very good at it.

Remington 742's can be found for around 300 , usually with optics, good dependable rifle!

I hunt with a .270 savage 110. Kills everything i shoot at. As far as accuracy, mine can shoot with all of my hunting buddies much more expensive guns. It ain't pretty, but i can beat it around and not care if it gets scratches and bumps/bruises. I would look at the ruger american rifle, too.

I will have to say this in your price range. Bought one in 270 and put a vortex viper on it and it is perfect. Very accurate.
