Many of my students are converted "non" gun people who are just a little behind the curve compared to the "zombie" frenzy of the past 5 or 10 years.
Many of them are rational, well educated people who are deeply concerned with threats from many areas..... isolated terrorist attacks, regional societal breakdown, home invasion, or just simply random violence.

Some of my alumni use the term "zombies" to refer to the segment of the population that do not work or contribute to society but receive "entitlements" & have no plan other than the govt taking care of them. As we have already seen, in New Orleans for example, it doesn't take long for people to revert to animalistic behavior in emergency situations.
