Why carry an expensive CCW?

I'm starting to wonder if it is even worth while to invest alot of money into a CCW. Say if you were forced to use your weapon to defend yourself....the police have to take it as evidence. So now you are with out your gun for about 2 years or longer while its sitting on some shelf in storage.

I can't imagine using a high end 1911 as a daily carry for the fear of it coming back with rust/scratch's all over it from neglect.

Starting to debate on what cheap reliable gun out there is worth my time....thinking of a wheel gun in 44spl...

What are your thoughts on this?

I dont carry expensive, I carry what I can shoot accurately and comfortably. My carry gun is a glock 26 with pierce pinky extension. There is one listed on here now for 450. Wheel gun probably would be alright too.
