1911 question

He probably laughed all the way to the bank when he sold the rights to Colt.
I wish I could find some definitive proof that he actually sold the rights to Colt. Often Browning would design a gun then contract with someone to build it for him. Much like Remington and what was later built by FN and called the Browning Auto 5. Not really sure how it worked with the Colt 1911 and cannot find any evidence either way.
At any rate, M1911 and M1911A1 are military designations and I have carried a number of brands while in the military that didn't say Colt on them but did say 1911A1.
