Had an interesting morning running off trespassers and got into the truck leaving and at 10 am I decided to go to another spot instead of the house. I got to the spot and got in my stand. I brought the bow for a doe and my rifle for a buck. Well before I could get either one of them pulled up I had a big fat nanny do walk 15 feet from me. I tried to get the bow up but by the time my hands were on it she was out of range.
I said oh well I'll sit till 12 and call it. about 10:45 not expecting to see anything I go to look at the trusty ODT and send a text. I looked up only to see this 8 walking down the road heading toward me at a quick clip. He cut hard right and was heading into the thick pines when I stopped him with a quick mouth bleat. I put the cross hairs on him and squeezed and he mule kicked and I knew it was a good hit. About a 70-80 yard blood track he was laying in some thick stuff. We got him out and as we were pulling out I looked up the road only to see 2 more does looking at me. Well they were too far off and I was happy with what I got so they can stick around till later in the season! God blessed me today!
