it will always be a matter of what you can hit with and feels good in your hand. there is no gun ever made that feels better in my hand than a 1911. I understand that a 9mm usually holds more, but for me, out to 100 yards, the 45 can't be replaced when you're shooting a bullet that weighs twice that of a 9mm. drive a truck into a five foot thick wall at 50 miles an hour, then do it with a truck loaded down with concrete blocks at 45 miles an hour and see which does the most damage. speed isn't everything, I've never seen a deer dodge my 220 grain 30-06 corelokts. if you have to shoot more than 8 times you're not in a gun fight, you're in a war. then you need your rifle.
