Some here think if you are ever investigated by the FBI, you should be banned from owning a gun.

It wouldn't have mattered. He had a carry permit which as we all know means there are no electronic correspondence conducted when buying from an FFL. He could have been on EVERY watch list out there and still bought the guns unless the power that be had physically taken his permit away from him.
