Looks like Isackson, is throwing us under the bus and caving in on letting the gun ban get to the floor and get a vote. The republicans are caving on the filibuster which would need 60 votes. They are banking on taking the senate at mid term elections in some red/purple states if the dems vote for it. Guys we are going to get screwed here, it's not a matter of if but how hard. You NEED to write, email and/or call your senators. They are going to sacrifice our rights for power.

You are 100% correct. As Eric Erickson put it, the Dems keep saying they don't want to vote it down due to political implications. Truth is, they want the vote and will vote to restrict our rights. Kinda like rabbit that does not want to be thrown in the briar patch so he says, when in reality that is exactly what he wants. Our only protection is the filibuster and it looks like that is not happening now. Absolute morons!

He is feeling the pressure from his party extreme left and Obammer's agenda. Last democrat I voted for was Zell Miller. Since than the State has been in the red thanks to this effort. His chances for re-election may be going down because of this. Hope he will come to his senses. The NRA needs our support now more than ever.

Isakson is having dinner with Obama tonight. Clearly Obama sees him as a potential ally. Obama will probably promise him some kind of pork like highway funds or education funds, etc. to make him look good to some constituency in the state while trading away our freedom.

Who is contacting their Senators tonight? Who is sitting around with their thumb in their a$$ and will be saying "what happened?" When we get screwed. If you don't do anything don't be complaining when we lose some of our rights. 5 mins to send two emails and voice your concern.

Dear Mr. xxxxx

Thank you for contacting my office regarding our Second Amendment rights. I appreciate your thoughts on this issue and am grateful for the opportunity to respond to you.

I support the Second Amendment right of all law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families. I firmly believe that we do not need more gun control in America; rather we need more criminal control. To that end, I support instant background checks on the commercial purchase of all guns to prevent convicted felons from obtaining them, but I do not support waiting periods or the registration of any firearm. As many of these issues reemerge in the 113 th Congress, I will work for common-sense legislation that keeps our children safe without infringing upon our Second Amendment rights.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please visit my webpage at http://isakson.senate.gov/ for more information on the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-newsletter .

Sincerely,
Johnny Isakson
United States Senator

yep. same canned response I got.

I would caution to not read too much into the decision to participate or not participate in a filibuster. A filibuster is only one tool in the tool box.

Here is the response I received earlier this week from Senator Isackson:
