Lever Gun Porn

Thanks for the reply. I am a Marlin fan, but one just cannot overlook the Henry's when looking for a lever gun. Henry makes a dang fine lever gun, and as you said, the fit and finish does not take a back seat to anyone. Henry's customer service is also top notch. I have 3 Henry's, .44, .45colt, and a silver boy .22 and am pleased with all three. I have been trying to find a Henry silver boy in .357, just because I would like to have one. The JM stamped Marlins are going up in value and can be difficult to find. While there is no collector value on the Henry's, their fit, finish, accuracy and customer service makes them a very desirable lever action.

Stay ahead of the curve! I believe Henry's will become much more collectable over the years, and for all the reasons you just named.
I am and will always be a Marlin fan boy.

Detail man, details! lol
An old, beat up, 1966 (AB Serial Number) 336 chambered in 30-30 that I traded for. The finish is rough, but the patina is just about right IMO. The wood is handsomely abused....It's no collector, but I love the look of it.

I have always wanted a Marauder.....yea right.....never had any luck finding one in shooter grade, so I decided to make my own. I sent the barrel to Brian Ott and had it cut down to 16.5 inches and re-crowned......$100
I cut down the magazine tube, filed the new barrel band screw hole, filed the end cap flat, drilled a new hole for the end cap screw....Free
I cut the dove tail for the front sight.....Free
I opened up the front barrel band to fit the larger taper of the barrel.....Free
I cut/filed the new barrel band screw hole in the barrel.....Free
Added the new barrel mounted front sight from Brownells......$15

I have about $350 in it now. Probably a bit more than it's worth to most, but it suites me just fine. I really enjoyed doing all the work. When I die my son will have a rifle that his Daddy's hands help make.

Just sighted it in this morning. I was shooting 6 inch bulls from 100 yards, getting about 3 inch groups with iron sights.....yea, it's a keeper.:thumb:

The reason I wanted details is that at first I thought it was a Marauder, then I noticed the pistol grip stock and Marauders were straight stock models. Thanks for the clarification, and yeah, I am still looking for an affordable Marauder!
Dang fine looking Marlin. Who cares if it will not bring what you have in it?! You have a very nice, and accurate, rifle that you helped create. Yeah, I consider that a good deal. Congrats man.

Thank You Sir!

AND.......Knowing a collector of fine Marlins like you has trouble finding a affordable Marauder makes me feel a little better about never having seen one I could afford, lol.

When Marauders start at $1200 for beat up shooter grade, I just cannot pull the trigger, so to speak, on a Maruader.

Alright, you convinced me to tell on myself. Many moons ago, I bought a Marauder kit from GunPartsCorp, a standard 336 Marlin, and attempted the Frankenstein transformation myself. Boy was I naive/Stoopid! The butchered parts were kept locked away in a box for a long time. I finally called the good folks at Marlin and fessed up. Sent that box of parts to them with a signed check. They shipped a reassembled rifle to me some time later. It has to be one of the most expensive plain jane 336's in existence. LESSON LEARNED! That's a dang nice lookin' rifle CQB27 CQB27 !

Do you still have it? Sometimes time can turn a seemingly expensive project into a boom stick with a little meat on the bone. :D
