They say that the 2nd only applies to militias. So what we do is RE-create the militia that Georgia once had. You make it an invisible entity like a corporation. That way there is no state funding needed. People can opt in when applying for their GWL. The Left may then argue that the National Guard is the militia of today but the hole in that is that the National Guard is government (federal at that), not "the people" as referenced in the 2nd. So no tanks, bases, bombs.....just a declaration by the state that bolsters our case in court to keep arms. Write your state reps if you agree with me. If you're a defeatist that doesn't want to take big steps to protect our right then go ahead and turn in your guns today......because based on the incremental infringement on gun rights from the last 30 years, you will not be able to own one in the next 30 years.

Research the militia more.

You already are in the militia by 18th century verbage. By definition, the militia is "the armed citizenry".

a well regulated militia doesn't mean organized or regulations. Well regulated means well equipped.

There is no signing up.

"I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials."
- George Mason, in Debates in Virginia Convention on
Ratification of the Constitution, Elliot, Vol. 3, June 16, 1788

"The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves, ... all men capable of bearing arms;..."
- "Letters from the Federal Farmer to the Republic", 1788 (either Richard Henry Lee or Melancton Smith).

"Who are the militia? Are they not ourselves? Is it feared, then, that we shall turn our arms each man against his own bosom? Congress shall have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American ... The unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal or state governments, but where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the People."
- Tench Coxe, 1788

we shut them down by a willingness to defend our right to self protection, and for the security of a free state.

I like this idea. But think it would be best to avoid the term militia (Giant bulls eye on your back) with the current administration and instead use the term "Freedom Club" (Which will be the same thing).

Strider at it again with his pessimistic posts.

anyways, I think this is a great idea and would be extremely beneficial to the public if it were to be put to motion.
Congressmen, here I come.
