Actually some of the Para Ordnance double stack 1911's were good -- like the Black Ops model, but I think they went out of business or something. The Black Ops is one I'd like to own some day.

Small, but quality, manufacturer that couldn’t swim in the pond for too long with the likes of massive companies like Sig, Springfield, Glock, etc. I guess. Now that I think about it they may have been bought out by one of those bigger gun makers.

"Quality" is a subjective term. What killed them is their move from a traditional single action FCG to their "LDA" 1911.

Their frames were basically Rock Island tooling.
