Hmm, yes that statement is true and correct .... but that is not what is happening here.
5 will get you 10 he fell/slipped into the mud, then they asked him well whatcha going to do ? he replied do my job, then I will go home and get cleaned up.
he had good access all around with an abundance of room to do that job!
if they had to have a critical weld installed, they would have prepared the area for the welder to make sure he was happy and comphy to ensure a passable weld (and that's what they pay big bucks for)

The guy taking the picture had to for evidence. When he gets electrocuted they can’t say he was forced to weld. . They could not pay me enough to do it like that. Lol

There is a member in the family of a my X-wife that does underwater welding in Vegas in big water displays. He makes a killing doing that.

My best guess it that the junction slips over another pipe and he had to get up under the junction to weld it to the pipe.

There have been days I came home and had to take my cloths off before I went upstairs. And the basement floor was stained with mud. It's rare I have anything like that anymore, thank goodness. I can at least say I don't think I was ever quite that bad

Meh, coulda been worse. Waist deep in a clogged septic tank comes to mind….
