A vacuum gauge can be used to check for vac leaks or blocked exhaust. A very common diagnostic technique before electronic diagnostics.

sounds like cat. convertor stoped up. need to ck back pressure on exhaust system to be sure

Sorry didn’t see I had replies. No check engine light. In my amount of research I was thinking exhaust or vacuum hoses. I hear what I think is a small hiss at the back of the engine driver side it seems like. I’ve checked the hoses I can get to and they seem fine. I can’t really crawl under it to check on the bottom cause I’m at work. Will try the feeling the exhaust and see what it does.

A blocked exhaust will hiss.

But will it blow the gas cap off?

A clogged or failed cat could well produce those symptoms, shame it hasn't thrown a code.
