If punishment is "swift and sure" it is effective. Even capital punishment after 20 years on death row is not all that intimidating to other criminals.

Maybe you're right...perhaps we should allow the victim's family to seek justice and deal with them as they see fit??? That way we could rid society much quicker of the useless scum that commits such hanus crimes.
