SB501 Would establish the following laws pertaining to firearms.
SB501 Would establish the following laws pertaining to firearms.
- 14-day waiting period for firearm purchases.
- Need a permit & thumbprint to purchase a firearm. Allowed up to 1 handgun & 1 long gun purchase permit per month. Sheriff can deny permits. You must keep your permit for at least a year in case anyone checks.
- All private sales also require a purchase permit, and must go through an FFL. And weirdly, must be done in-person unless you live more than 40 miles apart from each other.
- All firearms must be kept securely locked up at all times if not being lawfully carried.
- If your firearm is stolen, you have 24hrs to report it or you risk fines and jail time.
- "Large-capacity" magazines outlawed. Large-capacity = more than 5 rounds
- Background checks for ammo purchases. Even private sale... Apparently they're going to set up a phone line the public can use.
- Only allowed to buy 20 rounds of ammo every 30 days. (doesn't apply to ammo purchased & used at a range)
- Records must be kept of all ammunition transfers. Doesn't say how long.
