So I had my heart set on getting the Cannon Scout at Academy but it wasn't on sale for Black Friday and the normal price is $599. All the safes I looked at this Black Friday didn't have power nor did they have an opening for power. How would you get power into the safe if it doesn't have a opening already? I looked at a Stack On fire resistant and a Field and Stream both 24 gun. I noticed that TSC always has a Cannon Challenger at $499 but I don't think this was has power like the Scout model. So I was wondering is power that big of a deal? I already know you can get cordless dehumidifiers but I really wanted some bright lights in the safe so I figured having power outlets would be nice but I don't think its worth the extra $100.

I get by without power in mine and have for a long time. I just use the drybag silica type humidity suckers and I have some motion sensing battery powered lights that I have stuck up in the door and in the back.

Having a power hole seems like a detriment to me because it's one more place that water or heat can get in .... and if an electrical fire started INSIDE your safe because of the lights it would kind of kill the purpose of having a heavy fire safe wouldn't it?

I used a "plug in" humidifier that needs a "charge" every month or so & then just velcroed some really cool, cheap LED lights from Wally World on the top inside of mine.

The light was under $10 & the humidifier was around $20 at Dicks's. but, I think Academy Sports sells that model as well.

Good point guys. You got pictures of the light set up inside your safe? Trying to get some ideas of how to set things up.

Of course the batteries are dead lol, or I would've shown you the "glow". Looks good in the dark & you can easily find what you need.

Dicks sells a three led pod that Velcro to the carpet in the safe. Each led pod pivots. 27.99 at dicks and they price match wall mart (17.40). Use the shop savvy barcode scanner on your phone if you can. I ran power through a vent hole in my field amd stream 48 gun. Power kit was 20 bucks and I ran through a vent hole in the back of my safe. The kit comes with am expanding grommet that goes in when you drill the fire board.

Forgot to say that the led lights run off AAA batteries. I ran power for the heck of it and keep an extra phone charger in there for absolutely no good reason other than I can.
