If you Had to pick your 1 FAVORITE GUN!

If I had to choose.... Factory stock,NIB (2008 mfg) M16A4 20"HBAR, Model R0901. 1 of 4 identical guns from Colt's internal collection/museum, this one has 2 mfg dates like the other 3. The bare receiver was mfg'd and registered by Colt in 1985 as an M16A2. This one was a variant known as the A2E4, which was an auto stamped A2 as requested by the Navy at the time. 23 years later in 08, it along with 3 other Colt registered receivers were put through the assembly line and built into R0901 M16A4's. Of the 4, mine ends with serial number 63. Serial numbers 63, 67, 80 & 83 were sold. 80 sold for 40K 2 years ago. Either 67 or 83 were listed for sale 6months ago for 55K. Not sure if it sold, though I ought to check. BTW, I just ran upstairs and snapped some picks of the box mine came in with for anyone curious about the packaging.

A close 2nd of mine is the one directly below the A4. That one is registered as a M16A2 aswell, because quite frankly, it was too new for the FEDs to know what to call it. It is a factory NIB M16 9mm, stamped "Colt SMG". R0635. Like the above M16A4/A2E4, the SMG was part of an internal Colt collection. That one is more common with 48 on the NFA registry. At the time, I had the option of choosing between 2 different single digit serial numbers. 5 & 9. Serial number 2 just sold, so between 5 and 9, I chose 9 as it was stamped 9mm Nato right above the serial number. Any-who, I contacted Colt to get it's history and they did not have data for when they registered it with the NFA, but only had history of the RR being sent to the assembly line to be built into a R0635 in June of 2004. This SMG is also NIB from Colt, but I'd estimate it's current market value is between 35 to 40k.

Anyways, long story short, the first one, the R0901 is my favorite.

I know I'm getting old when I glance at the guns in the first photo and then all I can think about is 'I bet that chair is really comfortable'...
