If you change full synthetic oil every 4,000 miles, you are wasting money.266,890 on the '06 Explorer. Only used Walmart full synthetic every 4k miles.
As long as API SERVICE CODE on back is SF, SE or exceeds it , you can run it. I change oil when it gets dirty. Oils today are made to run 5k miles or better in non heavy traffic/dusty applications.Was told many yrs ago that all oil has to pass certain qualifications...I believe that to this day...regular oil changes is the key
I'm sure I'm wasting a little but old habits are hard to break. I have increased the time to 5,000 miles three years ago. I think it's $18 for 5 qts of Wally World synthetic.If you change full synthetic oil every 4,000 miles, you are wasting money.
Most synthetic oils are made to go 10kmiles or more depending on API service code.
